We have Kids!

Jack and I were lucky to be invited to Gaby Heinzerling's baby shower in Centerville. Kristen and Maia were in town and we got a chance to visit and play. Of course I didn't take enough pictures, but here are a few from the party. Kristen and I just kept saying...'Can you believe our KIDS are playing together!' It seems we were just 'kids' when we met! Maia is walking around and cute as ever...we hope it's not too long before we see them again!

Trip to the Cove

We made our first trip to Jack's very own park...YEATMAN'S COVE! Ok...well, I guess he has to share it with the rest of Cincinnati, but we can pretend, right!? For those of you not familiar with the area, there is a large park down by the Cincinnati river called Yeatman's Cove.

The cove is actually named after Griffin Yeatman who was the owner of a tavern called "Square and Compass" back in the 1790s...a time when the area was the location of a thriving steamboat port. Currently the spot is a large park which is popular for picnics, concerts and festivals and actually still serves as a port for two old steamboats.

For us it was a nice afternoon out strolling around, having some lunch (in Jack's case a yummy bottle) and playing in the park. Here are some pictures from our adventure. Jack really did seem to like the swing (although we didn't manage to capture any of his grins on photo) and he loved watching all of the people and dogs running around.

8 Months!

It's kinda of scary how fast Jack's first year is flying by! He turned 8 months old almost a week ago now. Once again the photo shoot for 8 months was a bit more challenging. Jack has turned into super squirmer and sitting quietly in a chair for a picture is not exactly his idea of fun. We still managed to get some good shots. We had to retire the bouncy chair because it was no longer supporting his weight and length (sigh...my little boy is getting so big!). Instead we added the new photo pose in front of the height measurement picture we have hanging on his wall. The bottom measures in at exactly 2 feet (Erin measured multiple times when hanging it up), which means that Jack is about 26 inches long now....as you can see in the photo.

Watch out Lola

Here are a random group of photos of Jack over the last few weeks. These pictures were all taken inbetween boughts of illness. He made his second sick trip to the doctor and was diagnosed with 'a flu-like illness' with a high fever for almost a week straight. He is feeling much better now and we are hoping that as the weather warms up all of these viruses will stop haunting our house!
He is on the go...loving his new found skill of crawling around. He especially likes trying to crawl and chase Lola and her toys. He grins ear to ear when he captures one of her toys and gets to 'throw' it for Lola to fetch. It's pretty darn cute.
He is also just about running when we put him in his walker and one of his favorite destinations is to the washing machine to watch 'the laundry show'. He gets mesmerized by the clothes flipping about in there. I am amazed at how he seems to figure out something new each and everyday.
