We headed to the Gulf Coast of Florida and spent a week on Jack's first spring break vacation. We rented a house in a town called Englewood, Florida. The house was a very short drive to the beach and had a wonderful heated pool. Grandma and Grandpa flew with Jack and I while Daddy drove the car and all of our stuff. Nana and Papa then met us there and we had a week long of family fun and relaxation. I ended up taking about 250 pictures throughout the week, but have narrowed it down for this post. I'll do some narration as I go to explain the pictures....
Our first few days there were cool and a bit rainy, but luckily the week warmed up and became beautiful. We couldn't wait to get to the beach, so the first day there we were a bit bundled up. We still had fun as Jack learned to explore in the sand.
Back at the house, Jack slowly warmed up to the pool. It took him a few days, but by the end of the week he was loving it!
Playing 'Where's Jack'....under his little tent. He will go in and then call out, 'where's Jack'...and then likes to list places he could be....'at the park or at the store'. He would stink at real hide and seek, but it's pretty cute to hear.
A basketball hoop in the pool helped win him over...
Going for a stroll outside with Papa.
When in Florida....Eat Ice Cream Cones!
Still getting the hang of it..
On our next trip to the beach it was warmer. Grandpa rented a convertible for the week which Jack loved. He would ask for 'Top DOWN'! He also loved Grandpa speeding up the car on Jack's command. Grandpa would drive slow and Jack would count to three...on three Grandpa would accelerate. Jack laughed his head off. Here are some pictures of the joy on his face (and sunscreen on his nose).
This beach had a basketball court, which of course we had to stop and check out.
Jack really started to get into playing in the sand.
Checking out the waves with Mommy.
Daddy flew our Spiderman kite as Jack tried to look up into the sun and watch. He held the string for a minute, but was much more interested in sand projects.
After nap time we played outside in the flower sprinkler.
On the day Papa had to leave we went out to a nice dinner at a cool restaurant on the Pier called Sharky's. It was great because Jack could wander around while we ate...
Exploring with Papa.
On our next beach adventure we drove a bit further to an island called Gasparilla. It was worth the drive. It was a beautiful beach and amazing blue water. We had another fun day of building sand castles, splashing in the water, and soaking up some sunshine.
Talking to the Seagulls.
This is FUN!
Attempt at a family photo.
Chillin' by the waters edge.
Had to put this one in because I love that belly...
One of Jack's favorites....flying inbetween Mommy and Daddy.
Covered in sand and loving it.
A funny series of pictures. First, Jack thinking, Hmmm...what would happen if I pulled this string!?
Oh Fun, I call pull Mommy over! (which he did!)
Then giving me a very sweet hug as if to apologize for knocking me over.
It was Easter the Sunday after we headed home, so we celebrated in Florida early. We let Jack color some eggs. It was very messy, but also very entertaining. He had a great time and was only blue for about 10 hours before it finally wore off in the bathtub.
Hmm...my hand is a bit blue...
The finished product, Jack had just as much color as most of the eggs!
Jack really had a wonderful time going on his little Easter egg hunt. Nana brought an adorable Easter basket which had balls on it. He ran around the yard looking for eggs and we even ended up hiding them all twice.
And last two pictures. After our Easter egg hunt we went for a ride to get ice cream...here are two more car pictures that I like. It was a great week in Florida....big thanks to the grandparents for helping so much (and letting Erin and I SLEEP every night!) We can't wait for spring break again next year!
