The Pool is Open

Erin and I were both pretty excited this year to open up the pool and let Jack experience swimming. He has been in a couple of times now and seems to be slowly getting used to it all. I think he will end up being quite the little swimmer. Here are some pictures from his first few ventures into the water....
(oh and the last one is a post swim naked shot that I just couldn't help posting)

Memorial Day Weekend '09

Pat and Mark (Nana and Poppa) made the trek down from Canada to visit for the weekend of Memorial Day. We had a wonderful time hanging out with them and they got to spend some great quality time with Jack. We were having so much fun in fact, that I didn't stop to take too many pictures, but here are a few from the weekend. My parents also came down on Saturday and we hung out by the pool and had a great dinner. Sunday we went to Taste of Cincinnati and ate and ate. Jack had a grand time playing in the water on fountain square.
It was so nice of Nana and Poppa to drive all the way to see us, we can't wait to see them again...thanks guys!

Twittering!!!

This may or may not work out, but we've set up a twitter feed on the right side of the page. We'll try to update more often this way, as long as it's worth it. If you all could offer a little feedback to let us know what you think, that would be super!

Ten Months!

Ten months already! (actually now 10 1/2 by the time I am getting to posting these pics!) Jack has really been busy this past month. He is learning all sorts of things and just seems like a little sponge. His biggest new skill is pulling up on anything and everything and cruising around. He loves to do circles around our coffee table or the couch or whatever he can find! His balance is getting better and better. He now goes quickly from crawling to sitting on his butt to pulling up. His other favorite thing to do is point and point and point. He says "this" (or what sounds like the word this) and points at anything he can find. If you ask him where the birds are he will point to the sky. (so darn cute) Here are the pictures from his ten month photo shoot....

Mega Jersey Blog

Last weekend we loaded up the car and the dog and the baby and drove and drove...till we hit the East coast shore. The Jersey Shore! We spent the extended weekend with Kristen, Tom, Maia, and Cooper at the family shore house in Lavalette, New Jersey. It was a fabulous weekend!

We ended up taking about 280 pictures within those three days! It was very very hard to narrow down the choices to cover the entire weekend. (it was action packed). So, this will be a post with LOTS of pictures. And I will try to squeeze in commentary in between...

We met up on Friday with Kristen, Maia and Cooper while Tom was at work. We spent a few hours hanging out on the deck and catching up. Jack immediately found a new pal...Cooper.

Maia was hazing Kristen and learning how to chug a beer. (don't worry, it was empty...but pretty funny how good she was at the head throw back!)

We also hit the beach (didn't take my camera)..the dogs ran and ran and swam and swam. That night we feasted on Surf Taco and played some Wii once the kids were in bed.
The next morning the kids were up early and quickly ready to get into some trouble. Jack taught Maia his naughty habit of playing in the dog bowls. They got soaking wet!

We once again hit the beach to let Lola RUN! She was so amazingly happy and was a strong swimmer against those big waves. (also brave to bear the COLD water!) We had fun putting our toes in the sand! Unfortunately, Cooper had to stay home because of a hurt leg...poor guy!

Back at the house, Jack had a ball sneaking in some playtime with all of Maia's toys. Other than a few quick squables about who got to hold the ball or book..they got along very well!

Later that afternoon we headed to the local aquarium! It was Jack's first exposure to many different animals and he seemed to really like checking out all the fish. He has recently learned how to point...and continuously pointed to all of the various fish in the water.

Jack was particularly in love with this tank of piranhas, and didn't want to let go as Erin was pulling away to move on...

Back at the house Kristen and I worked some on our "Mother's Day Craft"...we made garden stones with Maia's footprint and Jack's handprint. Jack promptly stuck his hand in his mouth right after his imprint...yuck!

Finally, it was time for bed after an action packed day. The kids got baths to wash off all the sand, cement, and fish poop (ok..not really).

Once the kids were in bed we had a delicious dinner. Tom grilled us some pizza and Kristen made margaritas and we stayed up catching up on all of life's craziness!

The next morning was Mother's day (my first!). We started off the day with a walk to the park and some swinging!! What great smiles we got...Jack and Maia were grinning ear to ear!

We then got a big dressed up (especially Maia in her beautiful dress) and went and had a lovely Mother's day brunch at the Labrador Lounge.

After brunch we made one last trek to the beach. We went to a State Park and once again took Lola to run. Tom flew a kite for awhile and we all enjoyed playing in the sand. I took a lot of pictures....
